EXPECTATION

To follow a scheduled course of business or conference trip

Gathered near Kumamoto Airport, are research institutions on the leading edge of technology such as allied enterprises and IC factories. Introduction of "CAT-IIIa" is anticipated by these businessmen who make frequent business trip. An office worker who engages in developing software at a computer company said, "I fly to Tokyo on business over 40 times a year. As it takes only 5 minutes by car, from the company to the Airport, I can work till the last moment at my office. I rarely think about flights being cancelled, but if we can anticipate more reliable service, my business trip will be smoother" (K.M. Age 33)
Another businessman explained, "Once when I was to fly from Kumamoto, I had to drive to Fukuoka Airport because of a cancellation. Unfortunately, enroute I ran into an accident on the highway. I would be glad if we could be insured of always flying from Kumamoto." (S.N. Age27)
Looking forward to the introduction of "CAT-IIIa" a passenger commented, "When I came back from Tokyo, our plane couldn't land at Kumamoto Airport because of fog. I was force to return home very late via Fukuoka. If "CAT-IIIa" is introduced, these troubles should cease." (T.S. Age26)
As if it were just from the suburbs of Tokyo to the metropolis by train, development of Kumamoto Airport is now making progress.
Special products of Kumamoto surely and swiftly
Kumamoto is known for its fresh fish and rich farm products. Water here is very clean, and there are many factories. The demand for IC's are greater than its current level of production. These products are daily sent out from Kumamoto Airport. Porgy, flounder and prawns fished from Amakusa are highly popular among Japanese restaurants in Tokyo. So are orchids. They are sent out from Fukuoka Airport in the event of cancellation of flights from Kumamoto. If the cancellation decreases as a result of the introduction of "CAT-IIIa", it will help keep these products fresh and the shipping cost effective, the result of which is sure to boost the economy of Kumamoto.
Looking forward to the increase of tourism from Kumamoto
In the past, we have sometimes heard, "It's difficult to hold a national conference in Kumamoto." or "It's difficult to organize a tour which starts from Kumamoto Airport." It seems to be notorious for its cancellations of flight. It's inconvenient to arrange for buses to transport passengers to other airports or to rearrange preexisting programs.
If the dependability of flight time is secured, the business of travel agencies would run smooth. Therefore, the agencies naturally expect the new system to be introduced. "Recently even junior and senior high school students avail themselves to plane travel for their school excursions. If "CAT-IIIa" is not introduced, cancellations of flights would greatly decrease and the sudden securing of buses to Fukuoka would cease. (K.I. Age 34)
Hereafter, we will be able to plan tours from Kumamoto Airport easier, and we can expect that nationwide conferences and sports meetings will be held here in Kumamoto.
