Various project towards the 21st century are now under way in Kumamoto. Kumamoto Airport promises to be the nucleus of the activity. Many research institutions and private enterprises on the leading edge of technology are being built around Kumamoto Airport.
It's easy to receive shipments and information from Tokyo because of the positional advantage of the Airport. You can fly to Tokyo in only two hours, making it possible to go, have a meeting, and return in one day. IC products manufactured in the factories can be speedily sent by air. Large scaled distribution projects near the Airport are in progress. Kumamoto Airport is expected to develop more widely as a base station for business, tourism and distribution industry.

Easy and richer access
Kumamoto Airport is the base station of a high-speed traffic network in Kumamoto. It is close to Kyushu express-way and has access to the main national roads in Kumamoto. There are three roads to the Airport; No.1 and 2 stretch from the center of Kumamoto City and No.3 joins the north of Kumamoto to the Airport. The building of a new interchange in Kumamoto Airport, the opening of Amakusa Airport, commencement of work on the Kyushu Shinkansen Line, and the planning of a monorail from Kumamoto City to the Airport are all preparations for these high-speed traffic network systems that are now in progress.

More possibilities as an international airport
Located in the middle of Kyushu, Kumamoto Airport is gaining attention to as a "West Gateway" not only to domestic but also international airlines. Kumamoto Airport gets positive recognition for international charter service as well as for international regular service between Kumamoto and Seoul.
The international terminal building is fully equipped with CIQ. A building for freight was newly built in Kumamoto Airport in 1988, to serve as an international air cargo base station. This has contributed largely to promote and internationalize physical distribution. Thus, Kumamoto Airport can be expected to extend the network towards Korea, Southeast Asia and all the countries of the world.
